BABYMETAL scoop Best Live Act at the Independent Music Awards

Last night Japanese dance-metal sensation BABYMETAL took home the prize for Best Live Act at the AIM Independent Music Awards.

In a fan-voted category powered by SONGKICK, BABYMETAL faced tough competition from Caravan Palace, Courteeners, Sunset Sons and Wolf Alice to secure their first AIM Award, a tribute to their incendiary live shows.

This is the fourth award bestowed upon the band in the UK, having previously collected two Kerrang! Awards as well as a Metal Hammer Golden God Award.

Currently in Japan preparing for two of their biggest shows to date the band sent a message to their fans in thanks for the award:

“The UK for us has always felt like our second home since the first time we performed at a festival here over two years ago. We’ve been back plenty of times recently performing our first headline show at The SSE Arena, Wembley and the support from the UK only ever gets stronger. Thanks AIM for recognizing BABYMETAL and to the fans for voting for us. We are more assured now that we can continue to stay true to ourselves as BABYMETAL! We look forward to seeing you again in December on tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers.” — SU-METAL (BABYMETAL)
