Comedy, The Lake Stage and more added to Latitude Festival

Latitude Festival have confirmed some of the biggest names in comedy, plus the most exciting rising stars.

Celebrating its 12th year, Latitude Festival have confirmed some seriously big names from the world of comedy, who will join music headliners The 1975, Mumford & Sons with special guest Baaba Maal, and Fleet Foxes.

Mock The Week and Robot Wars presenter Dara Ó Briain will be joined by panel show favourite Katherine Ryan and writer and director of recent Carnage mockumentary Simon Amstell to headline the Comedy Arena.

“Latitude prides itself in showcasing the very best artists, both emerging and established, and in the Comedy bill you’ll find newcomers, rising stars and international acts,” says Latitude’s Curator Of The Arts Tania Harrison.

“I’m delighted to announce Dara Ó Briain, Katherine Ryan and Simon Amstell as our first Comedy headliners, and they’re joined on the bill by an incredible line up of comics. We’re also hosting playful, provocative performances from Soho Theatre and Cabaret stars including Duckie, Jonny Woo & The Glory, and Desmond O’Connor’s Vive La Resistance, waving the revolutionary flag for the 50th anniversary of a landmark year for LGBT rights.”

The headliners will be joined by the likes of Chris Ramsey, Joel Dommett, Seann Walsh, Andy Parsons and many more.

Elsewhere at the festival, organisers have also confirmed names for the Lake Stage, presented by new music aficionado Huw Stephens. In previous years, the stage has played host to rising talent such as The xx, James Blake, alt-J and this year’s headliners The 1975.

Manchester five-piece Cabbage will headline the stage on the Friday, joined by HMLTD, Shame, Little Cub and SuperGlu. The Saturday, part of the Mumford & Sons Gentlemen Of The Road takeover, will host previously announced Lake Stage headliner Jorja Smith alongside Strong Asian Mothers, Casi, Saint Sister, IDLES, Nilüfer Yanya, Liv Dawson and Bruno Major.

The Magic Gang, Dream Wife, Otzeki, Astroid Boys, Matt Maltese and Gurr round off the Lake Stage announcement to appear on the Sunday.

“I adore Latitude, and curating the Lake Stage is one of my favourite things,” says BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. “This year’s headliners Cabbage, Jorja Smith and The Magic Gang sum up the spirit of independence and confidence in the music on the stage. Cabbage are immense on stage; they’ve really made a mark with their live gigs. Jorja was last seen onstage with Drake, appearing on More Life. And The Magic Gang have emerged as one of the most exciting live bands around. Elsewhere on the Lake Stage you have some of my favourite new artists playing. It’s going to be a blast!”

Away from the Lake Stage, the festival will also welcome Milky Chance, Marika Hackman, Dan Croll, Gill Landry, and a late-night showdown between HVOB and Mumford & Sons’ Winston Marshall.

Klangstof, Aldous Harding, Dan Owen, OUTLYA, and Bruce O Yates will also join the DIY Presents the Alcove Stage bill.
