Editor’s picks #1: American Idiot, Jack Garratt, Camp Bestival & more

Hi, folks! Looking for something excellent to liven up your week? Then you’ve come to the right place.

Here, I’ll be narrowing down some of my most recommended events taking place across the UK in the next seven days, from ska gigs and professional wrestling, to unmissable musicals and summer festivals. Leaving me questioning the sheer variety of my interests and you with, well, loads to choose from…

Green Day’s American Idiot the musical

American Idiot The Musical

Green Day’s hit show, American Idiot The Musical, is back in the capital and if the success of its 2012 run at Eventim Apollo (then Hammersmith Apollo) is anything to go by, this won’t disappoint. Factor in X Factor’s Amelia Lily and I’m marking it as a must-see while it’s in town. We’re also giving away tickets, so no excuses!

Camp Bestival 2015

Camp Bestival 2015

I’ve yet to hear a bad word said about Dorset’s answer to Glastonbury-come-Latitude. The festival is currently coming together nicely on site at Lulworth Castle, ready for the action to kick off on Friday (31 July). Family friendly AND great for escaping the working week with friends.

ICW: I'm a Lumberjack Match (and That's Okay)

ICW: I’m a Lumberjack Match (and That’s Okay)

Insane Championship Wrestling storms into Edinburgh this week, with New Age Kliq (BT Gunn & Chris Renfrew) taking on Sumerian Death Squad (Tommy End & Michael Dante) for the ICW Tag Team Championship. It’s a guaranteed good night out even if you’re not an ICW regular, trust me.

Less Than Jake 2015

Less Than Jake play Portsmouth

There’s yet to be an occassion when Less Than Jake haven’t delivered 10/10 levels of fun, so I’m expecting no different in Portsmouth this week. Pull up your skanking socks and head down to their show at Wedgewood Rooms tomorrow (28 July).

Jack Garratt 2015

Jack Garratt takes over King Tuts Wah Wah Hut

Like your gigs with a little more synth? Buckinghamshire’s super-talented singer and multi-instrumentalist, Jack Garratt, headlines Glasgow’s iconic King Tuts Wah Wah Hut on Friday (31st July). Don’t miss it if you’re in town.

Foxes 2015

Foxes headlines London Oslo

La la la! Dust off those dancing shoes and head to Foxes’ gig at London Oslo on Wednesday (29 July). New single, Body Talk, promises to transform the modest venue into a total paradise.
