Here’s why Biffy Clyro’s album success will surprise no one…

Biffy Clyro are on track to secure a No.1 album with 2016’s Ellipsis currently out-selling the Top 5 albums COMBINED.

Surprised? No, us neither.

If you ask us, Biffy are just one of those unique bands that come around every now and again. Managing to top expectations in ways fans don’t even anticipate.

The Scottish trio produce a sound that literally spans generations in terms of style and character, while having steadily built up their profile by nothing but hard work and really, REALLY great songs.

Seventh album Ellipsis is no exception, and what’s even more exciting is to see a band as big as Biffy still pushing themselves beyond their comfort zone.

They could’ve written 10 more versions of Bubbles and we’d have all danced along enthusiastically but new tracks like Flammable and Don’t, Won’t, Can’t see the band introducing a new, technical groove that challenges them still.

On A Bang and Wolves Of Winter are structured with more familiar touches; rich in sharp riffs and irresistible choruses that have hooked us in previously, while Re-arrange and Medicine shape the record’s softer moments. Songs like Animal Style bridge the gap brilliantly, combining Simon Neil’s fierce vocals with fast electro tones and indie synths that definitely don’t feel out of place in the Top 40.

The children’s choir on Friends And Enemies, however, is a total curveball, but we can’t wait to see if this makes it into their festival sets.
