Macklemore announces UK shows

The US rapper will bring his Gemini Tour across the pond in early 2018.

Good news for Macklemore fans! The Seattle hip hop artist will continue his Gemini trek well into 2018 with UK tour dates. He’ll play three dates in the spring, kicking off on the 30 March 2017 at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse, and continuing to the O2 Academy Brixton (6 April) and Birmingham’s O2 Academy (8 April).

Promoting his recently released new solo album, the Gemini Tour kicked off in the US last week. Macklemore originally unveiled it with a humour-filled video that shows him waking up from bed dressed in a dapper grey suit. He then gets a brilliant idea – to shoot at a bullseye because “everybody knows in the old days a tour was decided by a bow and arrow”. Watch his hilarious attempts to hit it below.

Macklemore is becoming well-known for his comedic clips. He also released an adorable video on Instagram at the end of September announcing that his wife is pregnant with baby No.2.

Macklemore (aka Ben Haggerty) rose to fame as one-half of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. The duo scored huge hits with Thrift Shop and Same Love on their 2012 debut studio album The Heist. In 2014, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won four Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. They followed up the success with 2016’s This Unruly Mess I’ve Made, it received mixed reviews.

Gemini came out at the end of September and it’s Macklemore’s first collection since separating from his producing partner. The album offers the soul-stirring single Glorious featuring Skylar Grey, along with some sweeter, more nostalgic music. You can hear this in Macklemore’s collaboration with Ke$ha on Good Old Days and in the playful, Lil Yachty-assisted song Marmalade.
