More names announced for Latitude
With only a month to go until the festival kicks off, things just keep getting bigger and better!
We couldn’t be more excited about the 12th edition of Latitude Festival, returning to Suffolk’s Henham Park on 13 – 16 July. Today more names have been revealed across several stages as well as in SOLAS and The SpeakEasy.
The BBC Music Introducing Stage is once again welcoming a diverse array of talent. Here’s a look at who you can expect to see there over the weekend:
Friday kicks off with jazz/R&B collective Solomon’s Garden, Conwy sensation Omaloma, Essex’s Sound of 2017 star Lisa Wright, alt-folk instrumental troupe Fishclaw, Scotland-via-Transylvania singer-songwriter Lizabett Russo, spoken word performer Banwo the Poet and denizens of doo-wop Be Good.
Saturday is also looking stellar with Edinburgh genre-benders Sink, ascendant hush-popper Tender Central, acclaimed Mande master Sefo Kanuteh, jazz quartet Flying Machines, Glaswegian producer and composer Iona Fortune, hip hop talent Piers James and blues classicists Amanda Brown & The Common Ears.
Finishing things off Sunday are the spellbinding Tinderbox Orchestra, the elusive House of Hippies, Welsh post-folkers Adwaith, classical guitarist Valerie Hartzell, Sheffield mainstays Black Thorn, West Midlands multi-instrumentalist Lumi HD and composer extraordinaire Neil March.
With its mix of transcendental experiences, SOLAS is returning to Latitude this year and its intimate SOLAS Stage will host a line-up that includes genre-straddling MC Afrikan Boy, funk-pop beach bums Parcels, folk storyteller Westerman, production wizards Blue Lab Beats, Dublin singer-songwriter Ailbhe Reddy, poptronic amalgam Talos, psych-dub maelstrom Pangani, Irish troubadour David Keenan, indie-house duo Le Boom and acoustic dreamers Into the Ark, among many others.
You’ll find all of Latitude’s debate, discussion, literary and poetry events under one roof in The SpeakEasy. Among those appearing are Colm Tóibín, Geoff Dyer and Sarah Winman to discuss their latest novels and Andy Parsons is returning with his Slacktivist Action. BBC 6Music’s Shaun Keaveny will also produce a special episode of his Middle Aged Night Out from The SpeakEasy with special guest Dane Baptiste, while Robin Ince’s Festival Shambles guests are Katy Brand, John-Luke Roberts, Joanna Neary, Barry Crimmins and George Egg.
Further additions across other areas of Latitude Festival include the mighty Pumarosa, Wesley Gonzalez of Let’s Wrestle, Beans on Toast, Willy Mason, Geowulf and many, many more as the total number of acts across the festival tops 750!
