New Music Friday: Mura Masa, The Dears and more

Here are our highlights from last Friday's album release schedule.

New Music Friday is the new release fix you need! We’ve been listening to Mura Masa, The Dears, Silverstein and more.

What’s even better about New Music Friday is that you can listen to a lot of the new music live. We’ve also found a few artists who’ve got new records out and are about to take them on tour. Double win!

Release of the week: Mura Masa – Mura Masa
The debut record from star-producer Mura Masa is filled with a star-studded line-up of guest appearances including A$AP Rocky, Christine and the Queens and Damon Albarn. The 13-track project is packed with funk and disco vibes. You can catch Mura Masa live across the UK in October with tickets on sale now via Ticketmaser.co.uk. Grab your copy of the album here.

The Dears – Times Infinity Volume Two
The Canadian band have released Times Infinity Volume Two today – it’s the concluding half of a two-album project, following the release of their critically applauded comeback earlier this year. You  can see them live in October in the UK by getting your tickets here. Grab your copy of the album here.

Silverstein – Dead Reflection
More new music from Canada with post-hardcore five-piece Silverstein and their new record Dead Reflection. Hailed as one of the band’s best albums – lyrically and emotionally – this delivers their classic punk and hardcore-inspired sound. Silverstein are playing London and Glasgow this December, with tickets available at Ticketmaster.co.uk. Grab your copy of the album here.

Waxahatchee – Out in the Storm
There’s some incredible new indie rock out today from Alabama-raised twin sisters Waxahatchee. Out in the Storm offers alt-rock chimes and scrutinising lyrics. Grab your tickets here to see Waxahatchee at London’s Garage on 4 September. Get your copy of the album here.

Japanese Breakfast – Soft Sounds from Another Planet
Little League’s Michelle Zauner has shared her sophomore solo album as Japanese Breakfast. Soft Sounds from Another Planet is the follow-up to her 2016 emotional debut that dealt with the death of her mother; the new record is all about her healing process and features funky basslines and a fizzing electro sound. Grab your copy of the album here.

Daley – The Spectrum
British recording artist Daley has released his second album, The Spectrum, today. The first single, Until the Pain Is Gone, topped the US billboard R&B charts and features American singer-songwriter Jill Scott. Previous collaborator Damon Albarn says, “Daley is an amazing young talent. One of those voices that doesn’t come around often.”

French Montana – Jungle Rules
Calling all hip hop fans! Moroccan-American artist French Montana shares his sophomore record Jungle Rules today. It features the biggest song of his career, Unforgettable, and guest appearances by Max B, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Pharrell and more. Grab your copy of the album here.
