Playlist: Long live pop-punk
With so many pop-punk shows happening this year, we share our favourite tracks.
Earlier this week, pop-punkers All Time Low announced a UK tour for March 2018 with pals Sleeping With Sirens supporting.
With Mayday Parade, New Found Glory, Neck Deep and more also heading out on tour this autumn, we’ve compiled a list of some serious pop-punk tunes to get you (and us) in the mood.
My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade
The kings of emo and pop-punk kick off our list. Gerard Way and his boys have delivered countless cult tracks including Welcome To The Black Parade. Now former guitarist Frank Iero is headed on tour in September. Get last remaining tickets via Ticketmaster.co.uk.
Mayday Parade – Kids In Love
Florida natives Mayday Parade are celebrating ten years since the release of their debut record A Lesson In Romantics with a bunch of shows across the UK in September. The shows will kileky include appearances by the likes of Miserable At Best, Jamie All Over and When You Get Home, You’re So Dead.
New Found Glory – Vicious Love (feat. Hayley Williams)
More Florida-based rock coming your way with veteran band New Found Glory who are celebrating 20 years of pop-punk with their upcoming UK tour. Plus: British band ROAM have been added as support across the tour. This will be so much fun, so don’t miss it!
Neck Deep – Motion Sickness
Their new record The Peace And The Panic is out later this year and so Welsh pop-punkers Neck Deep are taking to the road. And what’s even better: they’re brining As It Is, Real Friends and Woes along with them!
Good Charlotte – Girls & Boys
If you were a teenager anytime between 1996 and the early 2000s, these guys would have for sure been on your Walkman. Good Charlotte tracks like The Anthem, Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous and I Just Wanna Live were blasted out loud at most house parties, and now the party continues as brothers Benji and Joel bring their band back to the UK.
All Time Low – Dear Maria (Count Me In)
You know you’re an All Time Low fan when someone coughs and you immediately feel the urge to shout: “I got your picture, I’m coming with you. Dear Maria, count me in.” We’ve all been there, and that’s why we could not leave the four boys from Baltimore off our list. Alex, jack, Zack and Rian will be coming back to the UK to play their new record Last Young Renegade live in March. Get your tickets here.
blink-182 – Bored To Death
The birthplace of pop-punk probably lies in Poway, California somewhere in Mark Hoppus’ basement. Having just finished their UK tour in support of their new record California, blink-182 reminded us that they still have that special fire within them. Catch up on the tour with our review of their show at The O2.
Papa Roach – Scars
Jacoby Shaddix and his bandmates are headed back to the UK this autumn as well with their rock tunes. Papa Roach have just released their ninth studio album with Crooked Teeth.
Trash Boat – Strangers
British pop-punk outfit Trash Boat have just recently supported veterans Simple Plan on their UK tour and now it’s time to take that headline slot themselves with a six-date tour kicking off mid-September.
Waterparks – I’m A Natural Blue
Make some more space in your calendar this September as Texas trio Waterparks are headed your way. Their debut record Double Dare was released late last year and now they want to play it live for you!
Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance
Four-piece pop-punk veterans Fall Out Boy have influenced teenage playlists since 2001 and now their new album Mania is due mid September and we certainly can’t wait! Until then we will dance, dance under the cork tree (sorry!).
Simple Plan – Welcome To My Life
It’s safe to say if we missed Simple Plan off this list, we’d be in big trouble! The Canadians have been going strong for almost 20 years and just a few weeks ago they celebrated the 15th anniversary of their debut record No Pads, No Helmets … Just Balls with a show at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town as well as an appearance at Download Festival the same weekend.
Sum 41 – In Too Deep
Ahhh the early 2000’s! The time of pop-punk and skateboards. And it wouldn’t have been the same with Sum 41 in your ear. But don’t be fooled, the trio have been busy producing great new music since with heir sixth studio album 13 Voices released last year.
Long live pop-punk.
