Playlist: Seven Chemical Brothers songs to kick-start your summer

As The Chemical Brothers prepare for a string of live appearances in 2016, including SW4, we’ve chosen our favourite Chem’s videos to get you in the mood for summer 2016.

1. Salmon Dance. We’re kicking off with a tune to wake up to, and get ready to. Its all round good vibes are the perfect set up to the night out or whilst you’re packing for a festival. Also, everyone can do this dance – major plus point.

2. Go! – If ever you need any encouragement, Go! is your track. It’s a workout playlist staple – “no time to rest, just do your best” and the video is off the scale weird, which is unsurprising since it’s directed by Academy Award winning director Michel Gondry.

3. Galvanize – world, the time has come to… dance your butts off, basically. Or push the button and Galvanize (no, not sure either). This is one of Chems most iconic tracks featuring Q-Tip and won a Grammy in 2006 for Best Dance Recording – that was 10 years ago, which is amazing because this tune is still super fresh.

4. Don’t Think -… just let it flow! We’ve chosen this track to follow the intensity of Galvanize because it is a master of the mega build. It gets you into a beat, and winds you up and keeps you dancing, and then dancing some more. Also, this is a live video of the track filmed in Japan – how awesome does it look!?

5. Hey Girl Hey Boy – This track surfaces in all good nights out, it’s a modern classic on the dance floor and it’s almost impossible to not sing along to – seriously, try not to sing along; “Here we go!”

6. Block Rockin’ Beats – it’s hard to believe this track was written 20 years ago. It’s still a smack in the face of a track and truly put the band on the map when it hit the charts in the 1990s. It’s also testament to just how good The Chemical Brothers are, that they not only keep making hits, their hits still, well, have a hit.

7. Wide Open feat Beck – This track is the latest offering from The Chemical Brothers, and reflects the diversity of their tunes with its ambient dance feel. The track also shows off how they seem to bag pretty awesome collaborators too – Beck is probably one of the most creative musicians out there, and they’ve previously worked with Noel Gallagher, The Flaming Lips and Anwar Superstar.
