Review: Of Mice & Men make triumphant return to London
In celebration of their latest album Cold World, Of Mice & Men returned to London to light up the stage at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town.
After a captive performance at the O2 Academy, Brixton – which was recently released on DVD – the metalcore superstars were back in town last week with support from Hand Like Houses and Crown The Empire perfectly picked. And a crowd ready for a rocking night.
If there’s one thing you can guarantee when seeing Of Mice & Men live, it’s that you simply won’t regret it. A show fuelled by onstage energy and a sea of devoted fans, makes for an evening you won’t soon forget; and this gig at London’s O2 Forum one such night. Marking the sixth of eight stops on the band’s UK leg of their tour, the night was on fire.
Frontman Austin Carlisle owned the room all evening. Awesome tracks including Pain, Feels Like Forever and Would You Still Be There kicked off the show, after which it was guaranteed that our blood would be pumping, and Carlisle’s howling growls filled the venue, amplified by the cutting sound of the electric guitars. Put simply, Of Mice & Men elated the crowd who were already hanging onto their every lyric, line, beat, lick and flick.
As far as Friday evening gigs go, this one is pretty much up there. An energetic audience, head-banging and chanting, has come to worship a band that has cemented itself as rock gods in their eyes.
