Here’s a short guide to Avenged Sevenfold

With Avenged Sevenfold set to reach our shores very soon, here are a few interesting bits about the rock behemoths.

Arenas around the country are preparing themselves for the Avenged Sevenfold onslaught. Forming back in 1999, it’s been quite the journey for the heavy metal infused live music masters, leading them right up to headlining the likes of London’s O2. As pyrotechnics are undoubtedly lined up for one hell of a spectacle, here’s a short guide to the band.

They’ve had those theatrical names since the very start.
M Shadows. Zacky Vengeance. Synsyster Gates. You might be shocked to hear that these aren’t their real names… They’ve had them since the very start of the band, before the release of Sounding The Seventh Trumpet back in 2001. In an early interview, Shadows explained it was just a bit of fun, designed to ruffle some feathers for no reason. Well, it’s definitely not held them back.

They’ve really settled into their own sound.
It was 2005’s City Of God that really put their own distinctive stamp on Avenged Sevenfold. It waved goodbye to the metalcore roots with some seriously massive sounds, unlike anything out there at the time. They hit the nail on the head with their blend of heavy rock and unapologetic melodrama. Since then they’ve moved from strength to strength, with some trying to imitate but nobody reaching their lofty heights, right up until…

They basically did a Beyoncé last year.
“Doing a Beyoncé”, or “releasing an album without any build-up”. Avenged Sevenfold did just that when they dropped The Stage in October 2016. There were some small hints that something was on the way – a Deathbat here and there – but the release was pretty much a massively welcome surprise. It’s also as epic as you would expect.

Avenged Sevenfold - The Stage

Fire is the name of the game.
The pyrotechnic budget for Avenged Sevenfold live shows must be out of this world. They definitely don’t hold back on their visual spectaculars, and they’ll undoubtedly have some serious tricks up their sleeve for this absolutely huge tour. Whether it’ll be actual fire remains to be seen, but it’s going to get very warm down the front either way.

They are one of the biggest rock bands in the world.
They’ve headlined Download Festival. They basically live in arenas. They can turn the rock world upside down with a surprise release. Ultimately, they are FAR more than your everyday band. Avenged Sevenfold are absolute rock titans, and show no signs of slowing down.
