Ten tracks we just can’t wait to hear Bush play live
Tonight, British rockers Bush make their long-awaited return to the stage at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.
With 25 years under their belt, Bush have cemented their place in the British rock scene since the release of their debut Sixteen Stone album in 1994. Now the four-piece are back with a brand new album, Black & White Rainbows, which was released just last Friday, and a special one-off show in London this evening.
With a discography as long as Bush’s it’s hard to pick favourites but we gave it a go! Get psyched for their show and turn those speakers to full volume as we list the ten songs we can’t wait for them to play live.
Glycerine
As the fourth single from the band’s debut album, Glycrine is a classic Bush track with Gavin Rossdale’s hypnotic vocals and melodic tunes. It’s one of those Bush songs to cherish every time you hear it.
The Chemicals Between Us
Taken from The Science of Things, Bush’s third studio album released in 1999, The Chemicals Between Us is full of energy and that late 90s grunge influence.
Machinehead
If you’re looking for a Bush song to really rock out to (mosh pit, anyone?) this is your track! Machinehead won the band an MTV Video Music Award in 1997 for Best Song From A Movie. Featured in the teenage-psycho-triller Fear starring Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg, the song captures that teenage angst.
Mouth
Another song featured in a Hollywood blockbuster is Mouth. An American Werewolf In Paris is a cult comedy horror film from 1997 and Mouth is the perfect fit with its brooding melodies and dark lyrics.
Sound of Winter
Sound of Winter is one of the first tracks after the band’s hiatus. While still featuring the band’s classic sound, it marks a clear break from their earlier material. The sound and lyrics are cleaner but yet the bass-line and howling guitar reminds us just why we love this band.
All My Life
In need of epic guitar riffs and an added drop of drama? All My Life is all you’ll need.
The People That We Love
The lead single from the band’s fourth studio album Golden State just before their hiatus, The People That We Love was originally titled Speed Kills. Later it was changed to The People That We Love out of respect for the victims of the 9/11 attacks in New York as the song was set for release just shortly after.
Mad Love
It’s the band’s first release from their newest record Black And White Rainbows, released last Friday. About the new album, frontman Gavin Rossdale said: “My whole career I’ve been trying to make music that’s a hybrid of rock and electronic. I’d say it’s a textured, approachable and commercial record.”
People At War
Also taken from their newest record, People At War was released in June last year in honour of World Refugee Day. The song shines a light on the continuing crisis and with its sombre, haunting melodies has a lasting impact on the listener.
The Only Way Out
Bush’s sixth studio album Man On The Run is another gem in anyone’s record collection. The Only Way Out is the album’s lead single and was produced by Jay Baumgartner who’s also worked with bands like Papa Roach, New Found Glory and Linkin Park.
