The Clash and Ray Davies to be honoured at the Silver Clef Awards

One of Britain’s most influential bands, The Clash, are to be honoured at the forthcoming Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards.

The band – which split up almost 30 years ago – will receive the O2 Silver Clef Award, in recognition of their contribution to UK music.

Former Kinks frontman Ray Davies is set to receive the Hard Rock Cafe Ambassador of Rock Award and New York four-piece Vampire Weekend will be presented with the Raymond Weil Best International Award.

Since the Silver Clef Awards began 38 years ago, the event has raised over £8 million for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.

10 awards will be presented on the night, and those already announced include:

  • Barry Gibb, who will receive the Sony Mobile Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Coldplay who will win the Royal Albert Hall Best British Act Award
  • Alison Moyet who will receive the Investec Icon Award
  • Labrinth, who will be awarded the American Express Innovation Award Alison Balsom who will win the PPL Classical Award
  • Jessie Ware who will win the MusicQubed Newcomer Award
  • The final Award, Best Live Act, voted for by the public, will be announced the day of the awards.

The ceremony take places next Friday 28th June at the London Hilton on Park Lane, and the final award for Best Live Act, as voted for by the public, will be announced on the day of the awards.
