Buskers unite! Busk In London launched its 2016 initiative and new Network Rail pitches today with a morning gig at King’s Cross station.

We joined a handful of the finest street performers, musicians and magicians at the London station as they celebrated the launch of Gigs 2016 and the Busk In London summer programme.

Magic Shaun – who you may remember from our National Busking Day 2015 video – also told us everything we needed to know about the new initiative. Watch the video below to get all the details…

Busk In London has teamed up with Network Rail to open up a brand new circuit of pitches at some of London’s busiest stations.

It all started with a trial at London Bridge station and will continue with a year-round programme of semi-curated activity at designated busking spots across London. There are also plans to roll this out nationwide eventually. Major mainline stations will have at least one indoor busking pitch with most suitable for music and small walk-by acts.

Gigs is also the Mayor of London’s annual busking competition, aimed at young musicians. Launched in 2009, it has seen well over 1,000 talented artists taking to the streets to showcase their talent and develop their performance skills.
