Wilderness Festival announce day splits
The festival takes place from the 3 - 6 August 2017.
Wilderness Festival organisers have confirmed the day splits, which see Two Door Cinema Club top the bill on Friday 4 August, Bonobo on Saturday 5 August, and Grace Jones on Sunday 6 August.
Friday
Two Door Cinema Club will be joined by First Aid Kit, Aurora, The Turbans, Sigrid, Tender Central and Lisa Marini on the Main Stage. Elsewhere, The Valley will be topped by former Magnetic Man, Artwork. PBR Streetgang will be laying down those golden four-to-the-floor essentials for which they are famed.
The Friday will also see Masterchef’s Thomasina Miers presents a Mexican-inspired Long Table Banquet. Tommy Banks will lead the Chef’s Table, and Angela Hartnett’s Cafe Murano and Petersham Nurseries will host field restaurants.
Ronnie Scott will takeover the The Atrium, welcoming the likes of Lucky Peterson. The National Theatre Live screen will showcase Amadeus from The Olivier. Friday will also host Breakin’ Convention, hip-hop’s answer to Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
Songstress Alice Phoebe Lou and the hotly tipped My Baby will play on The Barn Stage.
The Love Hotel will open its doors for the first time, hosting Anchorsong, Blue Lab Beats, Cosmo Pyke and glittery performers a-plenty.
The Friday Voodoo Rising will take place at The Carousel, with Flamingods bringing their Eastern and African inspired psychedelic sounds.
The Playhouse will host some of the best new writers, including Katie Bonna’s All The Things I Lied About.
Saturday
Headliners Bonobo will be joined by Toots & The Maytals, Ray BLK, The Correspondents, The Ska Vengers, Brian Deady, and Isaac Gracie. The Valley will welcome Jackmaster and Eats Everything playing back-to-back down in the trees.
Wilderness will host The Spectacle – a thrilling, one-off collaboration with a master of light Chris Levine.
The Love Hotel will welcome She Drew The Gun in conjunction with BBC Music.
Nuno Mendes will be preparing a Long Table Banquet, while Hamish Brown presides over the Chef’s Table.
The Atrium will welcome an international dance spectacle. German piano virtuoso Hauschka, and Alex Mendham and his Orchestra will also appear.
Saturday will also see the Wilderness Cricket Match – the only proper cricket fixture on the festival circuit.
Sunday
Sunday headliner Grace Jones will be joined by Michael Kiwanuka, Hudson Taylor, Louis Berry, Ten Fe, Catherine McGrath, and Cosmic Strip.
Nightmare On Wax will close The Valley, with Crazy P providing live disco.
The Atrium will host Letters Live for the very first time. As headliners of the festival’s Talks and Debates programme, Letters Live will descend upon The Atrium to delight the audience with, as ever, a cast of readers and letters designed to surprise and delight.
A Sunday of Nina Simone will pay tribute to the iconic soul singer. The Wilderness Orchestra will be joined by Brit Award and Mercury Prize nominee Laura Mvula, the ever effervescent Will Young, Honeyfeet’s Rioghnach Connolly, and Ronnie Scott’s present a quartet including multi-award winning singer-pianist Liane Carroll, and Paul Robinson – Nina Simone’s drummer for two decades – singing along is highly encouraged.
The Love Hotel will host Liam Bailey, as well as Tru Thoughts signed Lakuta.
The Forum will see Bruce Parry discus Tribal Utopias, The Economist presents The World If and our Wilderness Utopias discuss Myths, Money and the Future of Democracy.
The Wilderness Orchestra will return, as will the Wilderness Choir.
You are invited to marry your mates at the Mass Wedding, flex your rap skills with Hip Hop Karaoke, enrol in the sock wrestling championships, mail a letter with the Secret Postal service and Become A Spy for the afternoon. It is all about the taking part.
