With the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience set to reach the UK in May, including a performance at London’s SSE Arena Wembley on the 27 May 2018, we’ve delve inside the acclaimed worldwide phenomenon.

“Bringing the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience to audiences earlier this year was a dream come true, dating back to an idea hatched over three years ago,” says renowned composer Ramin Djawadi. “The scale and spectacle of the production brought the world of Westeros to life in a truly immersive fashion, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share the experience with fans not only in North America again, but also to cross the narrow sea for the first time and bring the show to Europe.”

Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience brings a live orchestra and choir to perform music from all seven seasons of the iconic, award-winning HBO series.

The Duos

Game of Thrones loves to throw two seemingly incompatible characters together. Bron & Tyrion, Brienne & Jamie, Arya & The Hound, Jon Snow & Ygritte to name a few. This has created some of the best moments of the show through comedy one liners (“anyone got any chickens?”) and heartfelt moments (“you know nothing”). These side stories often provide a relief from intense moments of bloodshed and backstabbing in the main plot; five minutes of hijinks in a storm of malevolence.

Cinematic Experience

It’s no secret that Game of Thrones boasts captivating and spectacular effects series after series. A small film in its own right, every episode demonstrates immersive CGI that is best watched on a big screen. Epic battles between bitter families, dragons melting armies, and explosions devastating cities; all of these can be found within the world of Westeros. Not to mention a script that entwines more than the Targareyn family tree. Whether you’re here for the plot, the special effects, or the characters, the show is sure to please.

The Villains

What happens when a psychotic teenager becomes Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and the most powerful man alive? Welcome to the stage Jeoffrey Baratheon (Lannister). Jeoffrey’s demise was cheered by most GOT fans, a horrid ending for a callous character. Sorry for the spoiler.

He was brutal, petty, irrational, and disturbing, and is probably the most infamous character to be cast in the show. But utterly amazing to watch.

Special mentions also go to Cersei, Jeoffrey’s mother, & Tywin, Jeoffrey’s grandfather. Other fan favourite evils include Ramsey Bolton, Walder Frey, The Mountain, and of course, Littlefinger, the most scheming man in television history.

Plot Twists

Skull crushingly good moments, scenes that set the Sept on fire, Game of Thrones has thrown a few curve balls at its audience over time. But that’s why we love it.

When Sean Bean was cast as Ned Stark people had little idea what would happen to him, but the path of the other Starks hasn’t exactly been smooth. Theon taking Winterfell, Rob’s Rebellion, and whatever you do just don’t get married! Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) even had to pretend to fellow actors that his character was really dead to protect the secrets of the show. The Lannister’s also had their fair share of murders and anarchy. A toilet can be a dangerous place in King’s Landing.

Music

Let’s be honest, who hasn’t hummed the theme tune? Music plays its part in Game of Thrones, with the opening credits racking up 25m views on Youtube. This iconic sequence has generated countless covers over the last six years, firmly cementing it as one of the most recognisable songs on modern television.

Rains of Castamere, the dreaded Lannister music, Breaker of Chains, Daenery’s ominous soundtrack, and Light of the Seven… need I say more?
