West End superstar Josefina Gabrielle and national treasure Matthew Kelly will star in the brand-new stage adaptation of The Box of Delights. Piers Torday first adapted John Masefield’s classic for the stage, which now arrives at the fitting Christmas setting of Wilton’s Music Hall in London.

Kelly and Gabrielle will be joined by Mark Extance, Safiyya Ingar, Tom Kanji, Samuel Simmonds, Rosalind Steele and Alistair Toovey.

John Masefield’s classic children’s story, set at Christmas, has inspired the likes of C S Lewis and J K Rowling. It became an award winning BBC television show in the 80s, becoming an instant cult classic.

The stage show has been written by Piers Torday, whose work includes the Last Wild trilogy and They May Be A Castle. It tells the tale of orphan Kay Harker as he sets out to save Christmas. On a train home for the holidays he meets Cole Hawlings, who tasks Kay with protecting the Box of Delights. Kay Harker travels through time and space, protecting the Box of Delights from the evil Abner Brown.

The Box of Delights arrives at the Wilton’s Music Hall in London on the 1 December 2017, booking until the 30 December 2017.
