The Lion King gets a live-action makeover and the cast is incredible

Disney’s 1994 iconic film The Lion King will be released as a live-action movie and we have all the feels.

This weekend director Jon Favreau announced that actor and singer Donald Glover will be voicing little-furball-turned-king character Simba and James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Simba’s father Mufasa.

Take a moment to let that sink in – Mufasa will be voiced by the very man who gave him life in the original Disney movie over 20 years ago and Donald Glover will lend his voice to adult Simba. Glover’s US TV show Atlanta which he wrote, directed and starred in was just renewed for a second season, he’s been out and about with his musical alter ego Childish Gambino, and if you’ve ever watched Community you’ll remember Troy Barnes.

Jon Favreau also directed last year’s epic live-action remake of The Jungle Book and the Lion King remake is rumoured to have no humans in it at all.
