Now it’s 11th year at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, the West End production of Wicked has announced new casting.

From Monday 24 July, the iconic role of Elphaba will be played by Alice Fearn; while Sophie Evans will be taking over the role of Glinda.

Fearn originally joined the London cast of the show last year, as standby Elphaba, but will now assume the role full-time. Further West End credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Les Misérables.

Evans, meanwhile, shot to fame on BBC talent show Over The Rainbow, coming runner-up for the coveted role of Dorothy Gale in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium; a role she later went on to play.

The pair join other new cast members Bradley Jaden as Fiyero, Melanie La Barrie as Madame Morrible, Andy Hockley as The Wizard, Jack Lansbury as Bo and Laura Pick as standby for Elphaba

Martin Ball, Sarah McNicholas and Carina Gillespie all continue in their current roles as Doctor Dillamond, Nessarose and standby for Glinda respectively.

Current cast members Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba), Suzie Mathers (Glinda), Oliver Savile (Fiyero), Sue Kelvin (Madame Morrible), Mark Curry (The Wizard) and Idriss Kargbo (Boq) will all play their final performances on Saturday 22 July 2017.

Based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire , Wicked reimagines the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to tell the untold story of an unlikely friendship between Glinda The Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. It has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, and features the songs Defying Gravity, Popular and The Wizard & I.

Wicked is currently booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, London, until May 2018. You can get your tickets here.
