Ross Noble and Lesley Joseph to star in Young Frankenstein

Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein comes to the Garrick Theatre this September with comedian Ross Noble as part of the leading trio.

Alongside Noble, Birds of a Feather actress Lesley Joseph and West End star Hadley Fraser also get top billing.

Fraser will play the titular Dr Frederik Frankenstein, the grandson of the infamous Dr Victor Frankenstein. Fraser is most well known for playing Marius in Les Misérables, a show he has since returned to in the role of Javert.

Noble – one of the UK’s most original and exciting performers – will play the hilarious role of the hunchbacked, bug-eyed servant Igor; while ex-Strictly Come Dancing contestant Joseph will appear as Frau Blucher, the family’s forbidding housekeeper.

Dianne Pilkington (Wicked), Summer Strallen (Top Hat, The Sound of Music) and Patrick Clancy (The Producers, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) will also feature in the classic comedy musical based on the Oscar-nominated smash hit movie.

Young Frankenstein is a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic, which sees esteemed New York brain surgeon Frederik Frankenstein inherit a castle and laboratory in Transylvania from his deranged genius grandfather.

He now faces a dilemma – does he continue to run from his family’s tortured past or does he stay in Transylvania to carry on his grandfather’s mad experiments reanimating the dead and, in the process, fall in love with his sexy lab assistant Inga?

Based on the hilarious 1974 film and co-written with Thomas Meehan, the new production will once again see Brooks collaborate with Broadway director and choreographer Susan Stroman for this all-singing all-dancing show, which promises to bring his and Gene Wilder’s classic movie to life on stage.
