Natalie Dormer and David Oakes star in the West End premiere, opening this October.
Last night, Wicked became the 16th longest running show in London’s theatre history, with the cast taking to the stage for the musical’s 4567th performance at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. The untold tale of the Witches of Oz has now surpassed the run of Billy Elliot The Musical.
To celebrate, there will now be two extra matinee shows this summer, on Thursday 17 August and Thursday 24 August.
Wicked is now in its 11th year, and has been seen by over 8 million people in London alone. Receiving high praise across the board, the musical has celebrated three WhatsOnStage Awards for Best West End Show, as well as two revered Oliver Audience Awards.
The show is also set to continue its tour of the UK, visiting Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Dublin, Sunderland, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester from the 31 January 2018.
Across the globe, Wicked has been seen by over 50 million people, making it one of the most successful musicals of all time. It has won over 100 major international awards, and has been performed in over 100 cities in 15 countries around the world.
The West End production currently stars Alice Fearn as Elphaba, and Sophie Evans as Glinda. The show is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, reimagining the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
