City and Islington College visits Ticketmaster International HQ

On Tuesday 3rd March, we welcomed 15 students from City and Islington College to Ticketmaster International HQ in Angel, London for a guided tour and an inside look into the world of ticketing technology.

City and Islington College is the first choice Further Education College for thousands of young people across London. They offer a wide range of academic and vocational courses across five different specialist sites, each of which has its own community of students, teachers and support staff.

All of the students that visited Ticketmaster are currently enrolled in engineering or technology courses. After entering via our in-house slide, they were welcomed by Gerry McDonnell, Senior Vice President of Technology, who gave them an introduction to the company and the role of his team within it.

With more than 300 specialist technology employees in seven countries, Ticketmaster International has a thriving and ever-growing tech workforce, so this was followed by an opportunity for students to pose further questions about the company and how the skills they are currently gaining can benefit a business like Ticketmaster.

Our guests were then taken on a tour of the building, learning about different roles and departments on the way, before meeting Oliver, one of our front end architects. Oliver gave them a first-hand account of working at Ticketmaster, what his role within the business entails, and the knowledge and experience he has gained from it.

Finally, there was a chance to speak with Ticketmaster’s HR department and to ask any questions regarding jobs, internships and apprenticeships, before our guests departed.

We wish all the students good luck in their studies and look forward to potentially welcoming some of them back in the future!
