The funny and moving production opens in the West End this September.
Legendary Monty Python comedian Michael Palin is heading to a stage near you.
In celebration of the paperback publication of his book Erebus: The Story of a Ship, which comes out on 30 May 2019, he’ll be launching a 12-date tour across the UK. Palin will kick off his brand new show in Bournemouth on 7 June 2019 and make stops in Salford Quays, London, Cambridge and Salisbury, before wrapping up in Bath on 7 July 2019.
Expect an evening filled with stories and previously unseen video footage as Palin brings to life the thrilling adventures of the HMS Erebus, along with some of his own escapades from exploring the world for various travel documentaries.
Called Michael Palin – Live on Stage: Erebus, Python and Other Stories, the show will be divided into two segments.
In the first part, hear about the tough little ship (the subject of his book) that caused a national sensation after mysteriously disappearing in the Arctic in 1845. Richly illustrated, Palin will bring to life the tragedies and triumphs of the HMS Erebus for you.
In the second part, he’ll share his own life story. Drawing from a rich and diverse career, Palin will talk about acting in everything from Monty Python (see him in a clip from from Monty Python’s Flying Circus below) to Ripping Yarns, as well as hosting the TV travel series that has taken him from the North Pole to North Korea. Plus, find about how his three favourite subjects at school – geography, history and comedy – shaped his life.
Supported by local bookshops, you’ll be able to purchase signed copies of Palin’s book at the shows.
