We spoke to The X Factor star about life after the tv show.
Bring Me The Horizon will headline All Points East, curating their own day on Friday 31 May 2019 – the second weekend of the event. They’ll be joined by Run The Jewels, Nothing But Thieves, IDLES, Scarlxrd and Yonaka.
“We are excited to be headlining our first festival in the iconic Victoria Park,” frontman Oli Sykes says. “It’s a privilege to be in the company of headliners like Bon Iver and Chemical Brothers and we are hoping to blow fans away with our carefully curated day of really special artists.”
The news follows the recent announcement that Christine and the Queens will headline on Sunday 26 May 2019, joined by Metronomy, Maribou State, Beach House, HONNE, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Toro Y Moi, Ezra Collective, Baloji, Rina Swayama and Cuco.
The announcement is the latest for the ten day event, which runs in East London’s Victoria Park from 24 May until 2 June 2019, which includes a music festival, unique artist curated shows, and a free community midweek programme of entertainment.
Bring Me The Horizon are gearing up for the release of their sixth studio album Amo on the 25 January 2019, having just played two shows at London’s Alexandra Palace.
Their ever-changing style has seen them labelled as everything from deathcore to pop-rock, from the heaviness of 2006’s Count Your Blessings through the electronic experimentation of There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret, to 2015’s anthemic That’s The Spirit.
Their live history already includes an orchestral show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and arena shows at London’s O2.
Independent hip-hop heroes Run The Jewels, Southend melodic rockers Nothing But Thieves, acclaims punks IDLES, the heavily prolific Scarlxrd, and alt pop quartet Yonaka join the bill, with more to be announced.
Previous All Points East announcements have also confirmed headliners The Chemical Brothers for Friday 24 May, Christine and the Queens for Sunday 26 May 2019, and Bon Iver for Sunday 2 June 2019.
Christine and the Queens join the line-up following acclaimed sold out UK shows, and the release of the seminal Chris earlier this year.
The follow up to 2016’s Chaleur Humaine sees Héloïse Letissier, the creative mind behind Christine and the Queens, play with notions of sexuality and masculinity.
The Chemical Brothers will headline the first Friday of All Points East Festival. The electronic maestros will be joined by Hot Chip, Primal Scream, Spiritualized, Little Dragon, Danny Brown, Little Simz, Ibibio Sound Machine and more.
Bon Iver, joined by Mac Demarco, First Aid Kit, John Grant, KOKOKO!, Julian Baker, The Tallest Man on Earth and Snail Mail, will take to the stage on Sunday 2 June 2019.
Last year’s All Point East series saw headline shows from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The National, LCD Soundsystem, The xx and Catfish and the Bottlemen, plus supports on each date including the likes of Lorde and Friendly Fires.
More acts are expected to be revealed in the near future.
