Ben Platt has announced details of a London headline show.

The newly announced date will see the performer take to the stage at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo on 15 June 2019.

British singer-songwriter James TW will open for Ben at the show.

The gig is in support of Ben Platt’s debut album Sing to Me Instead, which was released last month. The record, featuring the singles Bad Habit and Ease My Mind was born after the musician bought himself a piano for his New York City apartment. Re-acquainting himself with the instrument, Platt started to write music at the piano and finding confidence in what he was producing, inked a deal with Atlantic Records.

Based on the theme of a transformative relationship, Sing to Me Instead was mostly produced by Jenn Decilveo (Andra Day, Beth Ditto, Anne-Marie) and was recorded at sessions in New York, Los Angeles and London.

Ben Platt first came to prominence originating the title role in the Broadway smash hit musical Dear Evan Hansen. Platt won many plaudits for his starring performance and in 2017 the actor took home the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Ben’s other theatre credits include roles in the productions of The Music Man and The Book of Mormon.

In 2018 Platt joined forces with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda to record a mash-up of The Story of Tonight and You Will Be Found, with proceeds from the track benefitting the March for Our Lives anti-gun violence movement.

Alongside his work on stage, Ben Platt will also be well-known to many for his performance as Benji Applebaum in the box office smash hit comedy film Pitch Perfect and the sequel Pitch Perfect 2. The actor is set to star in the upcoming comedy Drunk Parents alongside Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek.

Ben Platt will be coming to London later this year.
