Biffy Clyro announce their return to Dundee

The band will play the Scottish city for the first time in ten years.

Having released over an hour of new music on the original soundtrack for feature film Balance, Not Symmetry, Biffy Clyro have now announced their only Scottish headline date of the year. The trio will be taking to the Dundee for the first time in 10 years, performing at Caird Hall on 14 October 2019.

Simon Neil, Jamies Johnston and Ben Johnston are currently working on their follow-up proper to 2016’s Ellipsis and last year’s MTV Unplugged: Live at Roundhouse, London recording.

The newly announced headline appearance follows their bill-topping performance at the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as a European festival season that has taken the band to Deichbrand, Lollapalooza and Indiependence.

Their immense live performance has already seen them headline Reading and Leeds Festival, as well as offering dramatic showmanship at arenas and stadiums across the globe.

Biffy Clyro initially launched into the mainstream with their fourth studio album Puzzle back in 2007. Follow up Only Revolutions cemented the band’s status as rock titans, unveiling the anthemic Bubbles, Mountains and Many Of Horror, all three of which have remained live stapes since.

2013’s Opposites and 2016’s Ellipsis both went on to top the UK album chart.

With four NME Awards, four Kerrang! Awards and two BRIT nominations under their belt, the trio are now celebrating the release of new music as the Balance, Not Symmetry soundtrack.

The film premiered at Edinburgh Film Festival on 23 June 2019.

Speaking ahead of the film’s release to Kerrang!, Simon Neil said: “Unfortunately, timing-wise this has impacted our Ellipsis companion record, because there aren’t enough days in the year! The film will be named after the record and will share some dialogue and lyrics. The record will influence the film and then feed back to the music. It’s an unusual way to make a record, and that’s why I’m buzzing about it – it’s a different way to feel inspired.”
