Meet the nominees for BRITs Best Breakthrough Act

Fans can vote for their favourite artist now.

Fans can now vote for who they think should be crowned the winner of the Best Breakthrough Act at this year’s BRIT Awards.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced live at the star-studded ceremony, taking place at The O2, London on 20 February 2019.

Last year, pop superstar Dua Lipa took home the award at the iconic venue. Previous winners also include Rag’N’Bone Man, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Sam Smith, Bastille, Ben Howard and Ed Sheeran.

The deadline to cast votes for Best Breakthrough Act is 17:00 Friday 15 February 2019.

This year’s BRIT Awards ceremony will be broadcast live on ITV, with stand-up comedian Jack Whitehall returning as host. Confirmed performers for the show include The 1975, George Ezra, Little Mix, Jorja Smith and P!NK.

Meet this year’s nominees

Ella Mai

Signed to DJ Mustard’s record label, Ella Mai picked up her first Grammy Award at last week’s Los Angeles awards show, her single Boo’d Up taking home the prize for best R&B song.

The only band to make this year’s shortlist, IDLES sent shockwaves through the music industry in 2018 with their explosive top five album, Joy as an Act of Resistance.

Jorja Smith

It’s been a phenomenal year for Jorja Smith, who saw her debut album Lost & Found debut at No.3 on the UK Official Album Chart. The upcoming star took home last year’s BRITs Critics’ Choice Award, following in the footsteps of the likes Adele, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding and Tom Odell.

Influenced by a strong love of Destiny’s Child, Mabel is currently enjoying her highest charting single to date, with Don’t Call Me Up currently at No.5 and climbing.

Tom Walker

Many will know Tom Walker from his massive breakthrough 2018 single, the heartbreaking Leave a Light On. The Manchester lad is currently gearing up for the release of his debut album What a Time To Be Alive, which is due for release on 1 March 2019. From what we’ve heard so far, it should be very special.
