More bands added to Download Festival 2019

Here's who is heading to Donington Park in June 2019.

More acts have been added to the line-up for Download Festival 2019, joining the previously confirmed headliners Def Leppard (playing Hysteria in its entirety and more), Slipknot and Tool.

Today’s announcement is led by arena rockers Halestorm who, fronted by the enigmatic Lizzy Hale, return to Donington Park with riffs aplenty. The announcement also welcome the legendary Stone Temple Pilots, who take to Download Festival for the first time with new vocalist Jeff Gutt. Clutch are set to make their sixth appearance at the festival, alongside grunge revivalist and former Heaven’s Basement frontman Aaron Buchanan & The Cult Classics.


Baretooth join the bill off the back of their recent album Disgusting and their support for Architects on their huge UK shows. FEVER 333 celebrate the release of their debut album by being announced for Download Festival, with death metal pinoeers Behemoth also joining the bill.

The festival is held in the grounds of Donington Park and will take place between 14 – 16 June 2019.

The latest list of additions follows the likes of The Smashing Pumpkins, Dream Theatre, Lamb Of God, and Eagles of Death Metal joining the bill. As well as its headlining trio, Download Festival will also welcome Slash with Myles Kennedy, Die Antwoord, Smashing Pumpkins, Rob Zombie, Slayer’s final UK show, Whitesnake, Trivium, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, Municipal Wastle, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and many, many more.

Headliners Def Leppard will be performing their seminal album Hyseria live in full at the festival. The record is the band’s best selling to date and spawned the singles Animal, Love Bites, Armageddon It and Pour Some Sugar on Me. 

American heavy metallers Slipknot will be well known to Download Festival fans. With genre-defining tracks such as Duality, Wait and Bleed and Left Behind this will be the fourth time the band have headlined the festival. Slipknot have been teasing that a new album in the works, so this may well be a chance for the band to try out some new music on a familiar audience.

In his acceptance speech for the Icon Award at this year’s Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, Tool lead vocalist Maynard James Keenan promised new music was on its way. The metal band’s last album was released in 2006 and the announcement that the band are headlining Download will further tease fans that something new is coming.

A key date in the calendar of any rock fan, Download Festival 2019 is not to be missed.
