Download Dog trains with NXT UK ahead of the festival

Def Leppard, Slipknot and Tool headline Donnington Park this June.

Alongside its music programme, Download Festival are preparing to welcome NXT UK stars Pete Dunne, Toni Storm, Tyler Bate and more, as some of the big name athletes appear at WWE NXT UK, which for the first time ever will be taped and aired as part of the weekly NXT UK show on the WWE Network.

With only weeks until the festival, the legendary Download Dog joined WWE stars of NXT UK at their performance centre… and got more than he bargained for. Watch all of the action above.

As well as all the NXT action, Def Leppard, Slipknot and Tool headline this year’s Download Festival, held in the grounds of Donington Park between 14 – 16 June 2019.

Def Leppard will be performing their seminal album Hysteria live in full at the festival. The record is the band’s best selling to date and spawned the singles Animal, Love Bites, Armageddon It and Pour Some Sugar on Me. 

American heavy metallers Slipknot will be well known to Download Festival fans. With genre-defining tracks such as Duality, Wait and Bleed and Left Behind this will be the fourth time the band have headlined the festival. Slipknot have been teasing that a new album in the works, so this may well be a chance for the band to try out some new music on a familiar audience.

In his acceptance speech for the Icon Award at last year’s Metal Hammer Golden God Awards, Tool lead vocalist Maynard James Keenan promised new music was on its way. The metal band’s last album 10,000 Days was released in 2006.

Other artists confirmed for this year’s festival include Slack featuring Myles Kennedy, Die Antwoord, Smashing Pumpkins, Rob Zombie, Halestorm and Slayer.

The full line-up includes the biggest names in rock, as well as a number of rapidly rising stars.

Over the weekend fans will have access to unique performances, experiences, food, drinks and much more.

DO.OMYOGA returns following last year’s success, merging relaxation, fitness and heavy metal. The SINDROME Arena also returns, welcoming stunts, freaks and all-round madness. Area 51 and the Caravan of Lost Souls are also set to bring their circus sideshow back to Donington.

The festival will also welcome RockFit for the very first time, with fans throwing shapes and working out to some of Donington’s favourite acts.

The Thunderdome arrives at Download Festival for its official world premiere, welcoming Young Wall of Death stars Luke and Kerri Fox in a death-defying stunt show.

Demolition Download from Battle Heritage return for the sixth year, bringing together medieval fighters from across the globe.

This year will also welcome back the UK Air Guitar Championship, the Circus of Horrors, the Doghouse, the World’s Greatest Wall of Death, and more.

More recently the festival has also announced their first ever mindfulness programme, the Mind The Dog initiative.
