Flick’s fresh music picks, featuring Wolf Alice and Sasha Siem

Need new music to pop on this week’s playlist? Allow our music blogmaster, Flick Heath, to guide the way. Here are the new bands she’s loving right now…

PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING - GAGARIN

Public Service Broadcasting
Willgoose ESQ, and Wrigglesworth. No, these aren’t mythical creatures, or a rip off chewing gum. In fact, these two bizarrely named musicians create an incredible sound by combining banjo, guitar, drums, snippets of audio and electronics. Visuals are an essential part of their performance – the alluring atmospheric build up of their tracks are truly emphasised alongside. This is one band you need to make space in your diary for.

Public Service Broadcasting will support Kaiser Chiefs on tour this month, as well as headline dates in April.

Sasha Siem
Sasha Siem has a stunning, Norah Jones-esque voice. She mixes her vocals with an eerie, attractive beat. Interestingly, she was one of the youngest people to win a British Composer Award. You can really feel her love of classical music coming through in her songs, as she places her own new magical twist on classical music. As well as supporting King Charles, Siem will be releasing her new album Most of the Boys on 2 March.

Catch Sasha Siem supporting King Charles on tour this month.

Wolf Alice - Moaning Lisa Smile

Wolf Alice
Wolf Alice are the perfect mix between a band that make you want to take a relaxing step backwards (Bros), whilst also tempting you to get into the depths of the crowd and spend some time moshing (Storms). Sometimes you just need to feel a strong beat of drums, alongside the atmospheric rhythm of a guitar running through your body – their recent support slot with Alt-J was the perfect pairing.

You’ll find Wolf Alice touring the UK this March.
