Swedish sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg, better known as First Aid Kit, have shared news of their upcoming fourth studio album Ruins, set for release on 19 January 2018 via Sony Music. To celebrate they’ll be touring the UK next year with shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London in February and March.

Ruins marks the follow-up to 2014’s Stay Gold which earned them high praises for its consistency and art of “sophisticated sadness” (NME). Recorded with a 13-piece at Conor Oberst’s ARC Studios in Omaha, Stay Gold is full of melancholic folk-pop and Americana harmonies for days.

About their new track It’s a Shame, the duo recently said, “We went to Los Angeles last spring and spent five weeks there writing. It was a tough time for the both of us. We were in this beautiful sunny place, but mostly felt sad and lonely. It’s a Shame is a song about the emptiness and desperation you feel after a relationship has come to an end. How you will go to great lengths just to numb the pain and feel less lonely.”

It’s a Shame is the second single off the upcoming new record and follow-up to You Are the Problem Here which they released in January for International Women’s Day, stating “You Are the Problem Here isn’t a typical First Aid Kit-song. It’s angry and direct. It’s a song written out of despair.”

Here are those 2018 dates:
24 February – O2 Academy, Glasgow
26 February – Albert Hall, Manchester
1 March – The Roundhouse, London

Earlier this summer First Aid Kit graced Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage with an impressive set, and next week they’ll be playing an intimate show at Shoreditch Town Hall.
