As the summer reached its conclusion, Liverpool once again became the hub for pop music welcoming headline performances by David Guetta and Shawn Mendes, topping a bill featuring some of the most prolific charting acts.

This year, the two day event took place from the 1 – 2 September 2018, with the likes of Years & Years, Jess Glynne and Clean Bandit delighting the crowd.

With festival season all but over, here’s what we learned from Fusion Festival 2018.

Liverpool is brilliant

The setting for Fusion Festival is outstanding. It’s easy to get to and looks out across the Mersey, with the sun setting over the stage for an extra special dusk show. Everyone raves about Liverpudlian hospitality and their commitment to dressing to the nines. It all combines for a truly great atmosphere. This was embodied perfectly in Bingo’s Bongo who took up the task of party bringers and entertainers on stage between the sets.

Jess Glynne should be a headliner already

Somehow we forget that the girl has seven… SEVEN!… number one hits, all total bangers making for a jam packed set to party to. Mixed with the very talented backing singers, and dancers we sense her up-coming arena tour is going to be massive. Check out this snippet of her performing These Days.

Years and Years are getting better and better

Like Jess Glynne, these guys have really hit the big time. The energetic choreography is second to none, and there’s not a bum note in site. All hail Olly Alexander, a total joy to watch on stage, taking to Fusion ahead of their headline tour later this year.

Jax Jones is possibly the nicest guy in music

The DJ, producer and songwriter doesn’t need to care what people think about him, and works with the hottest upcoming talent like Mabel and Raye. He even closed his set with Frozen’s Let It Go sending the crowd wild. He’s doing a short UK tour in November too.

Meet and greets are awesome

Fusion hosts a whole load of meet and greets for fans of Luisa, Ally Brooke, Zara Larsson and more. It’s worth paying attention to their social channels ahead of the festival to see what competitions they have. Below is Luisa performing before she went to meet fans backstage!

MNEK isn’t just a good artist, he’s a great artist

He has so much energy on stage and even though he was playing a lot of songs from his new debut album (out this week) we were enthralled. We can already hear so many hits from that record and he kept his live show cute with some incredible dancers, in some outfits to die for.

Max George is back

He performed a surprise set over the weekend with help from Jamie Lawson. His track Barcelona is massive at the moment, but he also threw in some of our faves from The Wanted so everyone was very pleased. He later even did some charity busking; what a sweetheart! He promised us he’ll be making some more unscheduled appearances soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
