Foo Fighters to headline Glasgow Summer Sessions

The Foos are coming to the Scottish city in August 2019.

Organisers of Glasgow Summer Sessions have today confirmed that US rock heavyweights Foo Fighters have joined the festival’s line-up for 2019, alongside the already announced The Cure show on Friday 16 August 2019.

Set to take place on Saturday 17 August 2019 at Bellahouston Park, the newly announced headline show will be the band’s first gig in Scotland since 2015.

With a career spanning over two-decades, Foo Fighters are one of the biggest and most successful rock bands in the world. The Dave Grohl fronted rockers have released nine full-length studio albums thus far, with four peaking at No.1 on the UK Official Albums Charts. Regular stadium fillers, the last time the band were on UK shores was for two huge sell-out shows at London’s Olympic Stadium and Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.

During their tenure, Foo Fighters have released a plethora of hits including Monkey Wrench, All My Life, Best Of You, The Pretender, Times Like These, Learn To Fly, My Hero and many more. You can only imagine what kind of a challenge picking a setlist is.

The band’s latest album is the September 2017 release Concrete and Gold. Featuring the singles Run and The Sky is a Neighbourhood, the record was produced by pop extraordinaire Greg Kurstin (Sia, Adele) and received positive reviews. The NME described the record as having “the band’s most vital and impressive tracks in years.”

2019’s Glasgow Summer Sessions will be the sixth edition of the festival. Since launching in 2013, the annual set of gigs at Bellahouston Park have attracted tens of thousands of fans and brought world-class artists to the city such as Kendrick Lamar, Kings of Leon, N.E.R.D, Eminem, The Killers, Noel Gallagher and more.

Don’t miss Foo Fighters when they come to Glasgow next summer.
