Green Day honour Martin Luther King Jr. in new video

Just in time for Martin Luther King Jr Day in the US, punk-icons Green Day share a new lyric video for Troubled Times.

It’s no secret how the American punk rockers feel about the current political situation in their home country, and they make their views clear in their video for Troubled Times, the newest release from the band’s twelfth studio album Revolution Radio.

About the video, created by Manu Viqueira and David Rodrigues Simón, Billie Joe Armstrong said: “Today we celebrate love and compassion more than ever.” Showing a distinctive figure raging with hate speech, and Civil Rights activist Martin Luther King watching over it all in sadness from afar, the video leaves no room for interpretation. Punk isn’t dead and Green Day show that neither are its basics of fighting the political systems if needed. Check out the video below:

If you need more punk rock in your life make sure to catch Green Day live on tour with a few tickets left on Ticketmaster.co.uk or see them perform as part of BST Hyde Park this summer.
