Here's what you need to know.
Composer Hans Zimmer, whose musical repertoire includes some of the biggest films and TV series in history, has added another UK date. The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration will now also take to London’s The O2 on 26 November 2019, following his March shows.
Tickets for the new date will be available from 10:00 on Friday 15 February 2019.
The show will be directed by Zimmer’s soundtrack conductor Gavin Greenaway, a man Hans says he trusts more than he trusts himself. Greenaway will lead a large symphonic orchestra, taking to arenas across the country.
Hans Zimmer’s last UK tour, simply titled Hans Zimmer Live, was delivered by a band alongside the electronic sounds of his music. The Symphonic Celebration instead presents his work arranged by a live symphony orchestra for the very first time.
Zimmer himself worked tirelessly on transforming his iconic soundtracks, with Greenaway taking over duties for the actual live performances.
Zimmer has countless awards and nominations to his name, not least a coveted Academy Award for his work on 1995’s The Lion King. His catalogue also includes scores for the likes of Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight, Inception and more. Earlier this year, Zimmer celebrated his 11th Academy Award nomination for his work on Christopher Nolan’s epic Dunkirk.
The Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe award winner has also worked on TV and streaming series such as The Crown and the sprawling BBC documentary Blue Planet.
Starring Australian musician, singer and composer Lisa Gerrard, The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration, conducted by Gavin Greenaway and curated by Hans Zimmer, will now take to the following cities:
20 March 2019 – Manchester Arena, Manchester
21 March 2019 – Birmingham Arena, Birmingham
