Lewis Capaldi announces Kew The Music show

The organisers of the award-winning Kew the Music have today confirmed that Lewis Capaldi will be headlining the event on Wednesday 10 July 2019.

Lewis replaces Jess Glynne, who was originally scheduled to headline on the same day. Those who have previously purchased tickets through Ticketmaster.co.uk will be contacted by Customer Services.

Lewis Capaldi joins the already announced R&B superstar Craig David, Beverly Knight & Billy Ocean, Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Rick Astley, and Garbage.

This year’s Kew the Music takes over the iconic venue from 9-14 July 2019.

Capaldi joins the line-up having released his debut full-length Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent earlier this year. He also topped the UK singles chart with Someone You Loved, and entered into the top five with his most recent single Hold Me While You Wait. Late last week he played a secret set at Glastonbury Festival, packing out the BBC Music Introducing Stage.

Legendary alt-rockers Garbage have sold over 17 million records worldwide since breaking through in the early ’90s. The band, fronted by Shirley Manson are well known for their singles Queer, Only Happy When It Rains and Stupid Girl as well their chart-topping 1998 studio album Version 2.0, of which they recently celebrated the 20th anniversary.

Two iconic artists, Beverley Knight and Billy Ocean, will also both be performing headline sets at Kew The Music in summer 2019. Beverley Knight is a three-time MOBO award winner and has sold over one million albums in a stellar career. Ocean, known for hits such as Suddenly and When The Going Gets Tough has sold over 30 million records to date. The pair make their Kew The Music debut on 9 July 2019.

Jools Holland returns to Kew The Music on 11 July 2019. A real crowd-pleaser, Jools has been touring with the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for more than 25 years. He is also well known for presenting the iconic BBC music show Later… with Jools Holland. 

Since breaking through with his debut album Born to Do It, Craig David has become a pillar of the British music scene. The album spawned the smash singles 7 Days, Fill Me In and Rewind, turning the young lad from Southampton into a global superstar. Since its release, the record has gone platinum in both the US and the UK and earned the singer, songwriter and rapper two Grammy Award nominations. The superstar comes to Kew The Music on 12 July 2019.

Rounding off the festival is ’80s icon Rick Astley. Known for this smash hit Never Gonna Give You Up which hit No.1 in 25 countries, Rick will be bringing his hook-laden pop hits to the Royal Botanical Gardens on 14 July 2019
