The Mercury Prize nominees have been revealed
Here are the twelve albums nominated for the award.
The twelve shortlisted albums competing to walk away with the coveted 2018 Hyundai Mercury Prize Album Of The Year accolade have been revealed.
The shortlist, featuring the likes of Arctic Monkeys and rising star Jorja Smith, is complied by a panel of independent judges, revealed today at a launch event hosted by Hew Stephens.
The panel is made up of twelve industry experts, including past winners and nominees. Head of Music at 6 Music and BBC Radio 2 Jeff Smith acts as the panel’s chair, which also welcomes musician Ella Eyre, songwriter Marcus Mumford, and DJs Clara Amfo and MistaJam.
“This year’s Hyundai Mercury Prize celebrates albums by musicians at all stages of their careers,” the judges announced, “but with a shared belief in the importance of music for navigating life’s challenges – whether personal or political, falling in or out of love, growing up or looking back, angry or ecstatic. The music here is funny and inspiring, smart and moving. 12 amazing albums!”
The 2018 Awards Show takes place on Thursday 20 September at London’s Eventim Apollo Hammersmith, featuring live performances by many of the artists, and revealing who will win the 2018 Album Of The Year.

Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

Everything Is Recorded – Everything Is Recorded
There are no live dates for this collaborative project, which sees Richard Russell team up with the likes of Sampha, Giggs and Ibeyi.
Florence + The Machine – High As Hope
Spearheaded by Florence Welch, the band tour the UK throughout November 2018. [Tickets]
Jorja Smith – Lost & Found
The rising star is set to take to Bestival next month, as well as headline shows in October 2018. [Tickets]
King Krule – The Ooz
