New Music Friday: Dave Hause, The Menzingers and more

It’s our favourite time of the week – New Music Friday is the new release fix you need to get your weekend started. This week we’ll be listening to Dave Hause, Lower Than Atlantis, The Menzingers and more.

What’s even better about New Music Friday is that you can also listen to a lot of the new music live. We’ve also found the artists who’ve got new records out and are about to take them on tour. Double win!

Dave Hause – Bury Me In Philly

Philadelphia native and former punk rocker Dave Hause is back with his third solo record and it’s a love letter not only to rock’n’roll but to his hometown. His roots of fronting various punk bands in Philly still shine through, and the new album once again showcases Hause’s magnificent songwriting skills. This March, Dave Hause makes his return to the UK with a series of shows across the country. And if you want to get your hands on a copy of Bury Me In Philly head over here.

Lower Than Atlantis – Safe In Sound

Next month English rock band Lower Than Atlantis are heading for a big UK tour across the country coming to Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow, London and Cardiff. And to kick things off in style, they’ve now released their fifth studio album as a follow up to 2014’s Lower Than Atlantis. Safe In Sound offers a polished and big sound, and is clearly infectious. Listen for yourself with copies available in our shop. And don’t forget, there’s a few tickets left for Lower Than Atlantis’ upcoming tour.

The Menzingers – After The Party

Ten years since their first album, and now Pennsylvania punk rock outlet The Menzingers are on their fifth. With After The Party, the band are back to singing with their hearts on their sleeves and we’re sure fans will reciprocate the feeling at their upcoming live shows in the UK. Just take Lookers, the first release from album; an anthem in itself with the rest of the album following suit. If you love punk rock mixed with a bit of Americana and lots of nostalgia, grab a copy of After The Party in our shop and see the boys live on stage this spring.

elbow – Little Fictions

Alt-rockers elbow return with a brand new record today. Little Fictions marks the band’s seventh studio album and it might be their quietest yet. But the ballad-heavy piece feels intimate, soulful and unlike any other. The four-piece are set for a massive seventeen-date tour next month, including three London shows and four sold-out shows in their hometown of Manchester. We’ve got a few tickets left for the tour here.

LeAnn Rimes – Remnants

LeAnn Rimes is back with her rich vocals and a grown up album that packs a punch. The Texas-native seamlessly crosses various genres on her new record Remnants and we’re now even more excited for her UK tour which is happening in just two weeks. If you want to catch her live, tickets are available via Ticketmaster.co.uk.

Big Sean – I Decided

G.O.O.D Music and Detroit native Big Sean decided to release his 4th studio album this week, albeit quite quietly. With just two singles released before the big day, the album features a show-stopping feature by Eminem. Grab the record here.

Sampha – Process

One of the UK’s hottest exports has released his first studio album through the London based Young Turks label. Sampha‘s unique voice has seen him collaborate with some of the biggest names in hip hop; Drake and Kanye to name a few. Catch him live around the UK in March, and grab the record here.

Surfer Blood – Snowdonia

The fourth album by young indie outfit Surfer Blood is being tipped as their most ambitious to date. It’s their first release since the departure of Kevin Williams and the untimely loss of guitarist Thomas Fekete to cancer, it’s as much a statement of intent as it is a growth in sound. The reinvigorated band also hit the road across the UK in March, and you grab Snowdonia here.

Check back every Friday for a list of album releases to get excited about.
