It’s our favourite time of the week – New Music Friday is the new release fix you need to get your weekend started. This week we’ll be listening to Suicide Silence, Stormzy, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and more.

Suicide Silence – Suicide Silence
We’re starting New Music Friday off wth Suicide Silence‘s new, self-titled album. Their latest record sees the band heading in a new direction with frontman Eddie Hermida adding clean vocals, mixed in with the unmistakable Suicide Silence sound. Future – HNDRXX
What a treat! Hip-hop artist Future has released the second album in the space of two weeks. HNDRXX marks his sixth studio album and is his most honest record yet. He says: “HNDRXX is more personal. This is it. This is HNDRXX. This is me opening up and letting it all out so I can move past it and certain things, I won’t have to speak on it again.” The 17-track album features the likes of Rihanna and The Weeknd.
John Mayer – The Search For Everything (Wave Two)
American singer-songwriter John Mayer has released his second EP in anticipation of his new album The Search For Everything. The tracks are being releases in waves of four, until the full release in the spring ahead of his two big shows at London’s O2 arena. About the album he says: “There were too many songs to ever get out the door at once.” We’ve got a few limited tickets for his UK dates left on Ticketmaster.co.uk.
Stormzy – Gang Signs & Prayer
Grime artist extraordinaire Stormzy is up for a big year ahead. He’s not only released his debut album wth Gang Signs & Prayers but his headline UK tour will see him playing three shows at London’s O2 Academy Brixton this May. And that’s not all, this summer Stormzy is set for Manchester’s Parklife Festival and Creamfields. Plenty of chances to see him live, so don’t miss out. Grab the record here.
Rhiannon Giddens – Freedom Highway
American country and blues singer Rhiannon Giddens is back with studio album number five. Freedom Highway contains stories from Giddens’ personal experience, the current state of society and tales going all the way back to the Civil Rights Movement in the US. Los Campesinos! – Sick Scenes
Cardiff indie pop band Los Campesinos! are back with their sixth studio album Sick Scenes. Their first in three years, this album was recorded in Portugal during the 2016 Euro Cup and produced by Tom Bromley and longtime collaborator, and Death Cab For Cutie producer, John Goodmanson. According to the band the record represents “an expression of the pent-up aggression we felt due to being inactive for so long, but it’s also a celebration of just getting to be a band, of getting to play music with our friends.” Catch them live in London and Liverpool this spring, with tickets on sale via our friends at Ticketweb.co.uk. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah – The Tourist
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah have today released their fifth and finest studio album yet with The Tourist. It marks the follow-up to 2014’s Only Run. About the record Alec Ounsworth says: “I wanted to experiment with packing lyrics,” Ounsworth says in a press release. “On this album, the lyrics and vocal melody effectively carry the songs, maybe more than anything else. Elvis Costello does this really well on his song ‘Beyond Belief,’ as does Paul Simon on his solo albums.” The release comes just after the band announced a string of dates including three shows in the UK this autumn. Roy Orbison – Black & White Night 30
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Roy Orbison’s renowned 1987 televised comeback concert at the Cocoanut Grove night club in Los Angeles, Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings have teamed up with Roy’s Boys LLC, the Nashville-based company founded by the late icon’s sons to administer their father’s catalogue and safeguard his legacy. Together, they’re releasing Black & White Night 30; a re-imagined, re-edited, remastered and expanded version of the original television special. On September 30, 1987, Orbison, then 51, staged a remarkable comeback with the help of guest musicians whom he had influenced: Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Jennifer Warnes. Grab the record here.
British Sea Power – Keep On Trying (new single)
British Sea Power have released the second track to be taken from their forthcoming album Let The Dancers Inherit The Party (out 31 March). Keep On Trying (Sechs Freunde) is a mighty, middle-of-the-dancefloor paean to perseverance; a rocket-powered love letter to friendship. The song’s Europhile chorus rings with a collective Deutscher cry of ‘Sechs Freunde’ – the German equivalent of the six degrees of separation concept; six friends being the constituency of British Sea Power. Keep On Trying follows the band’s current radio smash Bad Bohemian (also taken from the band’s long awaited sixth studio album).
