Gary Davies, who used to present the lunchtime show on BBC Radio 1 during the ’80s and has recently been heard presenting the ’80s show on BBC Radio 2 is set to host at all the gigs excluding Leicester.

“I am really looking forward to taking the sounds of the ’80s out on the road around the country with NOW”, comments Davies on the tour. “I started Radio 1 in December ’82 and I think the first NOW came out a year later, so I saw the incredible impact the albums had. It really became the definitive guide to what was a hit, what was going to be a hit”.

Just some of the tracks that fans can look forward to dancing to on the tour include Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Purple Rain by Prince, Livin’ On A Prayer by Bon Jovi, Gold by Spandau Ballet and The Final Countdown by Europe.

Gary Davies adds: “The ’80s was a very special decade because you had so many different types of music all being successful at the same time. You had the aftermath of punk, the start of new wave, the new romantics, rock, heavy rock like ACDC and Def Leppard, the mega super cool rock bands like U2 and INXS and Simple Minds, amazing soul music from people like Cameo, then of course mega pop hits like Kylie, Madonna, Rick Astley. It was a decade like no other in terms of variety and it was all successful at the same time”.

Fans will get the chance to relive their favourite decade and dance along to all their favourite ’80s hits at NOW That’s What I Call The ’80s Live this autumn. Fancy dress is encouraged.
