Be part of metal history with Black Sabbath
Home of Metal needs you! Contribute to a Black Sabbath exhibition and archive.
This weekend the most iconic metal band of them all, Black Sabbath are embarking on their final ever UK tour. But it’s not all sad news. You can now be part of Home of Metal’s exhibition and archive, here’s how: get your portrait taken as you pay your last respects to the gods of metal at all shows during their final tour. Just look out for Home of Metal at each show.
They will also have a stationary stand set up at Birmingham’s New Street Station from Thursday February 2 to Saturday 4 from 15:00 to 19:30. Here you can have a go on a Gibson guitar and Laney amp, the same set-up that Tony Iommi uses to create his iconic sound, albeit smaller and in practice amp form. The organisers will work with fans, volunteers and the community to harness the power of social media, make portraits and capture and collate stories that mark this unique moment in history. The content collected will be used to develop an active online archive which will form part of a future exhibition.
“It’s an honour to be a part of the Home of Metal,” says the iconic Ozzy Osbourne. “I am just a guy from Birmingham who’s been blessed to have had such dedicated fans throughout my career. Like I’ve always said ‘I am nothing without them’.”
