Due to phenomenal demand, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbot have confirmed a second gig at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park.

The newly announced show takes place on Thursday 20 June 2019.

The summer shows will be the only chance UK fans have to catch the duo perform tracks from Paul’s recently released career-spanning collection The Last King Of Pop. The record features 23 tracks spanning Paul’s music career including hit songs from his days in the Housemartins, in the multi-platinum pop band The Beautiful South, his super-successful solo career and his most recent tracks with longstanding collaborator, former Beautiful South singer Jacqui Abbot.

A massively successful songwriter, Paul Heaton first came to public attention in the early ’80s as the frontman of Hull indie-makers The Housemartins.

In 1988, Heaton formed the wildly successful The Beautiful South. Known for hits such as A Little Time, Don’t Marry Her and Rotterdam, The Beautiful South sold a staggering 15 million albums during their career, before disbanding in 2007 due to “creative similarities”

Since the break-up of the band, Paul has released three solo albums – Fat Chance, The Cross-Eyes Rambler and Acid Country. In 2014, Paul teamed up with former The Beautiful South vocalist Jacqui Abbot to record and release their first album together, What Have We Become? The record debuted at No.3 on the Official UK Albums Chart, and the duo have since released two more albums together, 2015’s Wisdom, Laughter and Lines and 2017’s Crooked Calypso. Both albums charted within the Top 5.
