Playlist: A taste of Bruno Mars’ huge Glasgow show
He'll be bringing huge names in pop to the city in July.
Internationally celebrated artist Bruno Mars will be headlining a show on Glasgow Green on the 10 July 2018, bringing some huge names in pop with him for the event.
Mars, who released his huge third album 24K Magic in 2016, will be supported by British sensation Dua Lipa, Scottish funk and RnB veterans Average White Band, American funk rockers DNCE, and stateside genre fuser DJ Rashida.
Fans can expect to see and hear Bruno Mars performing music from across his back-catalogue, taken from his three full-length releases. He dropped his debut single Just The Way You Are in 2016. The track remains one of the best selling singles of all time.
Prolific on Twitter, with over forty million followers, Mars has made a huge impact both in music and as a personality.
As he prepares to take to Glasgow Green in July, we’ve pulled together some of our favourite Bruno Mars tracks, as well as videos by some of the artists who will be joining him for the very special show.
Bruno Mars – Just The Way You Are
This is where it all began for Mars back in 2010. The lead single for Doo-Wops & Holligans melted hearts with its doting lyrics, and introduced Bruno Mars’ soon-to-be multiple Grammy Award winning voice to the world.
Bruno Mars – Finesse (Remix) feat. Cardi B
Fast forward seven years, Mars teams up with rising rap star Cardi B for the remix of Finesse, taken from his incredibly successful 24K Magic. A huge retrospective nod, the song is another staple in his catchy melodic history.
Dua Lipa – IDGAF
With over 145 million views on the YouTube video, Dua Lipa’s IDGAF is representative of her huge early success. Walking away with two BRIT Awards earlier this year, she’s the perfect accompaniment to Mars’ pop stature come the summer.
Bruno Mars – Locked Out Of Heaven
Mars has consistently changed up his style, all the while retaining his pop mastery. On Locked Out Of Heaven, taken from his sophomore album Unorthodox Jukebox, he channeled the likes of The Police in the verses, before launching into a electro-pop anthem of a chorus.
Average White Band – Pick Up The Pieces
If you’ve ever spent time at a funk and soul night, you will have heard the iconic Pick Up The Pieces by Average White Band. With Bruno Mars channeling funk through-and-through, they make a more than welcome addition to the Glasgow Green show.
Bruno Mars – 24K Magic
Looking for that funk influence in Mars’ sound, look no further than the title track to his most recent full-length 24K Magic. This song has already proven to be huge in his live shows, and Glasgow Green is unlikely to be any different.
DNCE – Good Day
American funk rockers DNCE will also be joining Mars in Glasgow. Good Day is a sharp, feel good hit, in the same vein as their absolutely huge Cake By The Ocean. Get ready for those feel good vibes.
Bruno Mars – When I Was Your Man
It’s not all all-out pop with Mars. On the incredible When I Was Your Man, he strips it all back for a powerful piano ballad. It propels his voice to the forefront, showcasing just how he got to the lofty heights he has reached today.
