Known for their innovative synth-laden take on ’80s pop rock, The 1975 are preparing to release their new album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships on 30 November 2018.

To celebrate, the Mancunian quartet are heading out on a UK tour. Kicking off on 12 January 2019 at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, they’ll perform nine shows across the country, culminating on 25 January 2019 at the FlyDSA Arena in Sheffield.

Joined by Pale Waves and newcomer No Rome across all dates, they’ve now added a second London show, also taking to The O2 on Saturday 19 January 2019.

Tickets for the new date are on sale now through Ticketmaster.co.uk.

Formed in 2002, The 1975 consists of Matt Healy, Adam Hann, Ross MacDonald and George Daniel. The band’s name comes from a Beat-era book Healy was given at a yard sale. At the bottom of some wild scribblings, he noticed the date “1st June, The 1975”, and it stuck with him.

Following the release of their first EP, Facedown, in 2012, the quartet built up a huge following before releasing their self-titled debut album the following year.

The band’s second album, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, came out in 2016 and yielded a trio of hits with Love Me, The Sound and Somebody Else.

A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships will be the band’s third album. They’ve already released the singles Give Yourself a Try, Love It If We Made It, TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME, and the recent Sincerity Is Scary.

The release of A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships is set to be the first of two new albums The 1975 will drop in the near future, with Notes on a Conditional Form slated for a 2019 release.
