The Libertines have added extra dates to their forthcoming UK headline tour.

The full tour kicks off in Bournemouth on 3 December 2019, before heading to Leeds, Dundee, Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham, Birmingham, Bristol and London.

The shows will mark the band’s first headline tour in almost two years and come as they continue to work on their forthcoming fourth studio album.

Breaking through in the early 2000s, The Libertines are one of the most successful British rock bands of the past two decades.

The band, fronted by dual frontmen Peter Doherty and Carl Barât, originally found huge success with their debut album Up The Bracket in 2002 and with their chart-topping follow-up, 2004’s The Libertines.

Up The Bracket spawned the hit title-track and Time for Heroes,  with The Libertines housing the hit tracks Don’t Look Back into the Sun, Can’t Stand Me Now and What Became of the Likely Lads.

After a tumultuous break up in 2004, the band returned for two shows at Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2010, before reuniting full time in 2014 with a sold out show at London’s Hyde Park.

In 2015, the band released their first studio album in 11 years, the critically acclaimed Anthems for the Doomed Youth. Featuring the single Sunga Din, the LP debuted at No.3 on the Official UK Albums Chart and The Libertines followed the release with a sold out UK arena tour.

Outside of music, the band are currently preparing to open a hotel, bar and recording studio in Margate.

The Libertines will hit the road later this year.
