All you need to know about Warehouse Project 2018

The full 2018 season line-up has been unveiled.

Back for its thirteenth year, Manchester will once again play host to one of UK’s most loved series of club nights: Warehouse Project.

Revered by electronic music fans seeking out events from late autumn to early winter, WHP’s 12-week-long season brings some of the hottest names in house, techno, trance, dubstep and more to the north.

With the upcoming edition creeping closer, we thought we’d share everything we know so far.

What is Warehouse Project?

Warehouse Project, commonly written as WHP, is an annual series of club nights held “beneath the streets” in Manchester. Featuring a variety of producers, DJs, artists and bands, it incorporates all genres of electronic music.

Over the years, fans at WHP have witnessed performances by top-name international DJs as well as special appearances by Public Enemy, Soulwave, Kelis, M.I.A, De La Soul, Happy Mondays, Jamiroquai, Dizzee Rascal and many more.

In 2016, Warehouse Project received the gong for Best Club Series in DJ Mag’s Best of British awards.

When is Warehouse Project coming back this year?

Launched in 2006 with 25 events at the long-gone Boddingtons Brewery site, Warehouse Project now runs every weekend for approximately three months, starting in autumn and wrapping up after their legendary New Year’s Eve and now New Year’s Day parties.

The 2018 season begins with the opening party, Welcome to the Warehouse, on 22 September, with events running up until Wednesday 26 December’s Cru Cast event with Skepsis, Darkzy and more. The world-famous New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day closing parties are expected to be revealed in the near future.

Welcome to the Warehouse

Other events on the schedule are Four Tet & Friends on 6 October and a takeover by Patrick Topping on 19 October. Plus, Warehouse Project is partnering with Manchester International Festival for four events at Mayfield Depot running from 3 – 10 November bringing the likes of Bonobo, Fever Ray, Bugzy Malone and more.

Who is playing Warehouse Project?

This year marks the final season at Warehouse Project’s Store Street location, known as the season’s spiritual home.

The 12-week programme brings together the world’s most exciting and influential names, kicking off with the Welcome To The Warehouse opening party on Saturday 22 September, running from 17:00 until 5:00 the following morning.

Organisers have announced a total of 35 parties across the span of the season, including a run of events in partnership with Manchester International Festival. The iconic New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day closing parties will be revealed in the near future.

What can fans expect?

Year after year Warehouse Project raises the benchmark for its series, showcasing the cream of international DJs and underground scene legends alongside superstar artists and bands.

The 2018 edition already looks set to trump previous outings with its melting pot of electronic offerings… and that’s saying a lot because WHP17 was so good!

What was last year’s Warehouse Project like?

Beginning with the opening weekend headlined by LCD Soundsystem, the dance floor was a place of pure bliss. WHP17 also featured Hannah Wants, Giggs, The Chemical Brothers, Chase & Status and Jamie xx, among many others.

Annie Mac brought two consecutive nights of bangers joined by the likes of J Hus, Tiga and some of the world’s biggest names in underground. Deep house producers Gorgon City took their Kingdom tour to the Albert Hall, and Craig David Presents TS5 was an evening of extreme elation.

Warehouse Project 2017 also extended its run with not one but two closing parties – on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day – for loyal club fanatics to feast on.

So we can hardly wait to see everything they have in store for WHP18, but there’s no doubt it’s going to be legendary!

How do I get there?

Events are held in various locations throughout Manchester, with Store Street, formerly an air raid shelter, being Warehouse Project’s spiritual home. This venue can be found between the arches directly below Piccadilly train station and Metrolink.

This year’s WHP x MIF: Special Edition events are set for Mayfield Depot (shown below), a disused city centre railway depot on the south side of Fairfield Street which is also within spitting distance of Picadilly train station.

In addition to accessing both venues via the Picadilly train station, the Piccadilly and New Islington tram stations are each less than half a mile away.

Other venues regularly used to host Warehouse Project events include the Manchester Academy and O2 Apollo Manchester.

How do I get tickets?

You must be over the age 18 to attend Warehouse Project events and will need to show ID upon entry and also at the bars.

Tickets for all newly announced Warehouse Project shows will be available from 9:00 on Friday 27 July through Ticketmaster.co.uk.
