I Am Giant have returned after a two year hiatus, now led by guitarist and vocalist Aja Timu who brings a turbulent period on the band’s life to an end. Having dropped new material earlier in the year, the trio are now set to release the follow-up to 2014’s Science & Survival. It marks a fresh start for the band who are simultaneously preparing to hit the road for a short UK and European run. Playing With Fire, the second track to emerge, is a call to celebrate individuality. It’s a middle finger to convention and control.

“The first line of the chorus really says the most… ‘I don’t care’… just slamming the door on negative and judgemental people and not giving them any power over how you live your one and only life,” says bassist and founding member Paul Matthews. “Who really knows how to live it anyway.. we’re all making it up as we go along.”

“Its very much in line with the whole record which is a little more raw and angsty then our last records. While this track gives our fans a chance to hear Aja’s voice as lead vocalist and the progression of the band, we’ve actually still got a heavier side to this album that no one has heard from us yet. Were excited to show our fans this.”

They’ll have the opportunity to do just that come their UK tour, kicking off at the O2 Academy Islington in the north of London on the 26 September.

“Its going to be great to get back out and hit some spots we haven’t been to in a while,” Paul says of the forthcoming live shows. “Theres a new dynamic in the band and we’re just looking forward to getting out there and smashing it on and off the stage. This record has been so much fun to record and we think thats gonna reflect in our live show, plus we’re really looking forward to playing some of these new songs for the first time ever!”

“The UK gets em first,” he boasts.
