Ticketmaster hacks Berlin – our round up of the Hackathon

We always encourage innovation and disruption around the live events space.

At Ticketmaster, one of the ways we’re able to create the best ticketing experience for fans is by opening up our platform to external developers during events we call a “Hackathon”. Basically, we invite all API and mobile developers, architects and API enthusiasts out there to join us for a day of coding, prizes, pizza and fun.

Our ninth global Hackthon was held last month in Berlin. At the trendy Rainmaking Loft, 50 developers joined us for a day of mashing up Ticketmaster’s APIs with other APIs to create meaningful and super cool experiences for fans worldwide. Not only did we have local developers on board, but developers from across Germany, UK, Hungary, Poland and Belarus made the journey over just to attend.

Have a look at what went on in the video below:

The innovative ideas that were created in just a matter of hours were testament to the talent in the room. It was a tough competition, but the eventual winner was I AM IN – a Tinder-style mobile app to help groups of friends indicate their likes and dislikes by swiping left and right on events which ultimately resulted in a set of recommended events that the fan and their friends should go to.

These Hackathons give developers a rare insight into our culture of support, development and commitment to constant change and innovation. They also provide our Ticketmaster team with the opportunity to get up close and code with the wider developer community and gain insightful feedback on the developer experience and new updates to Ticketmaster’s API.

We’ll be announcing the location of our 10th Hackathon soon. Stay tuned to @tmTech #TMHack for all the details.
