See The Nightmare Before Christmas live in concert
You can watch Tim Burton's iconic film accompanied by a live orchestra next year.
Legendary Hollywood composer Danny Elfman is bringing Tim Burton’s classic film The Nightmare Before Christmas Live in Concert to the UK for the first time ever.
The two night run of performances takes place in Glasgow and London in December 2019 and will feature a full orchestra performing the film’s score in sync with the movie.
The Nightmare Before Christmas Live In Concert performed three sell-out shows at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in October and these newly announced shows will mark only the second time that the special concert event has left the US.
First released in 1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas is considered a cult classic. The Henry Selick-directed musical Halloween-Christmas film combines stop-motion and animation to tell the story of Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, as the earnest-but-misguided leader attempts to take over the Christmas Holidays by kidnapping Santa Claus.
A box office smash, the film received rave reviews on release and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
In this unique showing of the film, Danny Elfman will be reprising his role of Jack and will be joined by other original cast members Catherine O’Hara as Sally and Ken Page as the voice of Oogie Boogie.
Speaking about the performance, Elfman said: “Being able to perform Nightmare live in synch to the movie with a full orchestra was such a thrill at the sold-out Hollywood Bowl shows. Having Catherine O’Hara and Ken Page to perform with me really made it a unique and magical experience. I’m happy to bring this special night to the UK for the first time in December.”
The Glasgow dates will be accompanied by The Royal Scottish National Orchestra, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra proving the music at the London date.
