The EE Wembley Cup 2018 is coming to London

The tournament sees some of the biggest YouTube stars compete for the title.

On Sunday 25 November 2018, stars of YouTube and international football legends will take part in the final of the fourth series of The EE Wembley Cup. Kicking off at 14:00, the sporting extravaganza mark yet another epic online football-themed series.

This year, The EE Wembley Cup will host four teams including YouTube sensations Spencer Owen and Hashtag United, F2 Freestylers, plus EE Wembley Cup newcomers Calfreezy and Rebel FC, and WillNE and Stephen Tries of XO.

Last year’s final saw Hashtag United win three matches, taking home the trophy for a third year running following a 6-1 win against F2 FC. Newcomers Rebel FC and XO are looking to take the title and break Hashtag’s winning streak.

This year sees the tournament adopt a number of new rules including 30 minute matches for shorter and sharper game play. In the event of a stalemate at the end of the 30 minutes, play will enter Man Down Time, seeing a player removed from each team every minute until a goal is scored.

A new Draft stage allows team captains to invite international football legends and YouTube stars into the fold, with four legends and four YouTubers up for grabs.

“The reaction to the first three series of The EE Wembley Cup has been incredible,” says Spencer Owen of Hashtag United, “so we can’t wait for fans to check out the new series and hear what they think of our new rules! Each year, The EE Wembley Cup goes from strength-to-strength and with the amazing football and YouTube talent we have on board this year and some BIG changes to the format – it’s set to be the best series yet.”
