Minimasters join in at the launch of UEFA Women’s Champions League

Yesterday the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final went on sale – and Minimasters were there to help celebrate the ticket launch.

The 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final will be played at Cardiff City Stadium on 1 June, two days before the men’s Final at the National Stadium of Wales. The event is recognised as the pinnacle of women’s club football and is broadcast live across the world.

Yesterday’s launch, which coincided with 100 days to go to until the final, saw 100 members of Cor Glanaethwy – the North Wales choir who came third in Britain’s Got Talent – perform a flash mob on unsuspecting visitors to Cardiff’s Central Library.

Also in attendance at the launch were Jayne Ludlow, 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final Ambassador, Wales Women’s National Team Manager and former UEFA Women’s Cup winner, plus Welsh National Football team members Helen Ward, Nadia Lawrence and Gemma Evans.

We sent intrepid Minimaster reporter Illani, 10, to the event to get all the gossip.

Ludlow said, “It’s an honour to be an ambassador for the 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final, and to be here to witness such a stirring celebration of Women’s Football with just 100 days to go until the Final in Cardiff.

“It is fantastic that Wales will be staging the pinnacle event for European women’s club football. The UEFA Women’s Champions League is arguably the strongest competition for top level female players in the world.

“Having played in the competition with Arsenal and having had the honour of lifting the trophy in 2007, it will be great to welcome the world’s best female footballers to Wales in June.”

Tickets for the 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final are on sale now via Ticketmaster.co.uk. Check back soon for an exclusive video of Illani’s backstage antics at the launch.
